Jute Co. Factory Not Wanted in Sunshine

Braybrook shire council heard an inspector state that the Yarra Jute Co plans to set up a jute material teasing works in Devonshire Road Sunshine are undesirable. He warned of potential dust nuisance and offensive trade implications, noting transfer of licence from W. Dockery may be sought. The matter was referred to the health officer and health inspector.

Deer Park Mothers Club Plans March Meeting

The Deer Park State School Mothers Club schedules a general meeting for Wednesday March 16 at 3 o'clock in the Deer Park hall. Mrs McLeod returns from illness to a welcome from president Mrs I E Morton and two new members join. A sewing machine for upper grade girls was purchased at reduced cost thanks to Miss Ward of Barkly Street Footscray. All Deer Park ladies are invited to a Guild afternoon on Tuesday March 15 at 2.30 at Mrs J Gray's Ballarat Road home.

The Sun Shine Horticultural Society gathered over 40 members as Mr Frost of Oakleigh spoke on Australian Native Shrubs. Awards were given in multiple classes and preparations continue for the autumn show to be held Saturday April 28 with schedules available from the secretary.

Wedding at Salvation Army Hall unites Miss Fletcher and Ronald Bell

Miss Elizabeth Gladys Fletcher and Ronald Triffe Bell wed at the Salvation Army Hall with a full bandmaster's uniform. The ceremony featured Adjutants Franks and Jones, bridesmaids Iris Belt and Bessie Franks, and music by the Sunshine Salvation Army Band. Reception followed at the Masonic Hall with about 100 guests.
