Debutantes will be invited to attend a mayoral ball now set for Tuesday May 30th replacing the May 2nd date. Dr and Mrs J R Parsons approve the debutante ceremony and ask interested girls to submit their names to the shire secretary at once for early preparation.
Leslie Earle of 98 Ballarat road Maidstone appeared before W J Andrew and J Gourley JPs charged with guiding four racing greyhounds without muzzles. Inspector Thorpe observed the dogs un muzzled at 6 16 pm January 23 in Ballarat road Maidstone. Earle admitted knowledge of muzzle rules in Footscray but claimed Bray Brookshire exemption. He was fined 10 shillings with £1 4s 6d costs.
Sunshine works employees of Hl. V. McKay Massey Harris Pty. Ltd. organize a fund to buy building materials and offer voluntary labor to rebuild homes of bush fire victims. £661 8/4 raised includes a Grand Theatre benefit. first house funded £120 for an aged couple in Warrandyte with materials ready this weekend. Public Works seeks more applicants while a team at Sunshine prepares timber and site work.
Alan Davis and Hector Reece of South Melbourne employed by Melbourne Land Co faced Sun Shine Court for driving trucks over the cordite bridge at Maribyrnong with more than five tons. Inspector Thorpe testified to seeing them cross on February 24 and noted toppings totaling a weight over the limit. Notices near the bridge warned of the unsafe structure and a five ton limit. Defendants did not appear.
