Water Trust debate over Albion water schemes at St Albans
A Thursday meeting at the Mechanic's Institute St Albans discussed rival Albion water schemes. Commissioners Stenson Butterly Pennell Stevens Pax Glendenning, secretary Hockit and engineer Walter attended. A gravitation scheme via 80 000 gallon tank was proposed with cost around £5,000, while an alternative 9 to 12 inch pipe plan would cost about £16,000 and serve Keilor and St Albans. The board voted to hear Luxford, compare schemes, and submit both to the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission for ruling.

Luxford's water scheme stance in St Albans debate
Mr Luxford presents his side arguing the rejection of a unified water plan is illogical. He outlines a gravitation supply to St Albans via Albion and Bond's Lane, with a storage tank of 80 000 gallons, a pumped mains system, and a Board funded delivery main. He notes higher future population at St Albans and calls for Board consent and local council cooperation.

It cites a 6000 pound estimated cost, annual expenditures around 5000 pounds plus pumping and supply costs, and a 12 million gallon annual supply at sixpence per 1000 gallons. A public meeting is urged before decisions.

Opposed Albion water scheme for St Albans water supply
A correspondent argues against the Albion scheme to bring water to St Albans, saying locals must fund most of the outlay and interest for Keilor to receive water. He questions routing from Enfield through Keilor and whether pumping or gravity matters, noting St Albans growing population and lack of a creek. He suggests shorter sourcing is essential or St Albans may never get water.
