Obituary: Andrew Fox J.P. Dies at Sunshine Home

Andrew Fox J.P. died at his residence 1 Centre St Sunshine after prolonged illness. He ran an estate agency on Hampshire Road for many years and leaves a widow two sons James and Gerald and a deceased daughter. Funeral from Our Lady's Church Sunshine at 10 a.m. Thursday to Footscray Cemetery.

Death of Mrs Lydia Keast at 89 in Sunshine

Mrs Lydia Keast died Monday at her Sunshine home 143 Durham Road aged 89. Widowed since 1928, she and her architect husband once supervised Auckland University and Queen's College works. A Methodist, she remained active in local affairs despite an accident that left her husband wheelchair bound. Private burial at Box Hill with Rev Hugh Small leading and Le Pine and Sons handling arrangements.

Death of Baby Irene Schmutsch in Maidstone

We extend sympathy to Mr and Mrs Henry Arthur Schmutsch of 22 Inkerman Street Maidstone in the death of their four week old daughter Irene who died June 21 She was born in Melbourne and buried at Fawkner Cemetery on Monday Rev H M Moorhouse conducted the service.

Death of Mrs Priscilla Oakes at Sunshine aged 84

Mrs Priscilla Oakes of 17a Dickson Street Sunshine died at Sunshine Community Hospital on June 24 at age 84. Born in Launceston Tasmania she came to Victoria 78 years ago widow of Herbert Oakes who died in 1941. Funeral attended by family and friends proceeded from her daughter's home and interment was at Footscray Cemetery with Rev. A H Small officiating and Nelson Bros in charge.

Shorten Family member Daniel Leo Shorten dies suddenly

Daniel Leo Shorten, a member of the well known Shorten family, passed away suddenly last Friday at 6 Lawson Street Albion. He was the son of the late John and Margaret Shorten, survived by siblings James Elizabeth Jeremiah John William Benjamin and Sylvester with two singers and three brothers predeceased. The funeral followed to Footscray Cemetery Monday.

Death of Robert William Perry in Albion residence

Robert William Perry aged 81 died on Thursday June 26 at his son Victor Perry’s Albion home. A former Deer Park resident and Victorian Railways employee, he was born at Corack Victoria and moved to Deer Park in 1900s, living in the district most of his life. He was a keen follower of all sports.

Mr doe Perry of Anderson Road Sunshine is noted as a son in the Deer Park sports report. The funeral is scheduled tomorrow at 10.15 a.m. at Footscray Cemetery with the Rev A W Small conducting the services.

Technicality Rules Out Notice of Motion

Braybrook Council last Monday rejected Cr Parsons notice of motion seeking a plebiscite on a City name. Dr Barrett argued under the Local Government Act such a motion cannot both rescind and alter a previous motion. A further notice is expected at the next Council meeting.

Miss Australia Could be Shire Representative

The Shire President calls a public meeting next Tuesday to consider nominating a local entrant in the Miss Australia quest. Braybrook Red Cross fund raises funds and clothing for Boland

The Braybrook and East Sunshine communities report £705 4s 3d collected in cash for the Victorian Red Cross relief to Boland, plus 20 food parcels prepared by volunteers. 34 cartons with over 5000 clothing items, including 20+ ladies overcoats, are packed for shipment.
