Sunshine Mothers Club Birthday Marks Twenty Fourth Year
The Sunshine Mothers' Club celebrated its 24th birthday on a Thursday afternoon July 14 in St Mark's Hall with a large turnout. Attendees included Dr A E Shepherd MLA Mrs Shepherd and Dr Parsons, plus school officials and representatives from local Mothers' Clubs. Speakers praised education and cooperation between clubs and the school, and a party with entertainment and a decorated hart haby cake followed. The next meeting is at 1 45 pm.

District Mourns Mrs J R Parsons
Mrs J R Parsons known as Lilian Mary Parsons died after a long illness. Born in Surrey England she moved to Sunshine 32 years ago and engaged with St Mark's Church Queen Victoria Hospital Auxiliary Sunshine Younger Set and various committees. She leaves husband three sons a daughter and five grandchildren. The service at St Mark's Church drew large attendance with a guard of honour from Technical School students. Floral tributes reflected the high esteem in which she was held. The funeral was conducted by FP Adams with Walter Warne directing.

For weeks Maidstone residents have complained about a man who frequents public amusements and harasses women. On Saturday night he visited Maidstone Hall wearing a woman's clothes. Detected, he fled pursued by local youths, and escaped despite being hampered by the attire. Police expect an arrest soon.
