A clipped, fragmented item notes sayings about clever men wives and home life. It mentions orchardists reporting fewer dralls and a wallpaper hanger finding business good when driven. It hints that a person who points out faults may be a friend briefly before turning.
The premier social function of the year at Sunshine drew a large metropolitan audience to the Sunshine Town Hall last night. Dr W J Pridham and Mrs Pridham hosted in the presidential hall, the first such ball since last year. Attendees included municipal representatives and parliamentary members. The decor featured dark green reen masses, conifers, peach and cherry blossoms, ferns, and palms. Supper tables displayed Iceland poppies in orange with green accents, while the main hall avoided over-decoration yet offered floral centerpieces and draped walls enhancing the festive atmosphere. Weather was favorable, complementing the event’s refined arrangements.
Nearly 600 guests attended the presidential ball where debutantes wore white frocks with pink rosebuds and silver leaves. The procession began at 8 30 pm with minuet dancing led by Miss Esme Stewart. Mrs Pridham received the debutantes as four children assisted and a Souvenir bouquet was presented.
A committee meeting at Sunhire Town Hall will expedite plans for a complimentary ball to honor Dr W J Pridham and Mrs Pridham, Braybrook Shire president and his wife. Last year’s committee list is noted, with no tentative date set as Dr Pridham retires in August.
