Sunshine Remembered Founder of Sunshine and Early Growth

The early Braybrook district name Sunshine honors H. V. McKay who moved his Braybrook Implement Works here after 1903. By 1926 the town’s growth stalled after a promising start with Spaldings Wunderlich and Nettlefolds, but McKay’s legacy endures in a town whose population rose from 2,000 in 1914 to about 10,000 by 1934, with building permits and rental demand signaling future expansion.
