The Golden Wedding celebration for Mr and Mrs E J Luxford, longtime St Albans residents, was held at St Albans hall. About 50 relatives and friends attended. telegrams arrived in abundance. Dancing and reminiscences filled the evening. Mrs Luxford baked the cake, and a glass stand from 50 years ago held the cake. Special thanks were given to pianist E Mottram.

At a special Latom Tennis Club meeting on Wednesday Mr W Smith was chosen as caretaker succeeding Mr F Phillips. A large crowd attended the Latom club event where prizes went to Mrs T Toby and Mr Mounsey. The hall reopens next Wednesday with the screening of San Francisco.

Man Charged For Driving Dray Without Light
Edward George Russell 31 Hertford Road Sunshine faced a charge of driving a horse and dray without a light at 5 55 pm on June 23. The dray was seen at railway gates with no light. Evidence showed the reins were in his hands and the father claimed ownership. The charge was amended to refer to the father and Russell was fined.

Police obstruction case ends in dismissal
A Melbourne bench dismissed charges after finding insufficient evidence of obstruction against three defendants McArdle Petherick and Payne who intervened during Constable Powers arrest of Scanlon for drunkenness. Witnesses testified crowd noise and hostility were limited and no one laid hands on the constable.
