Sunshine Court Delivers Fine for Fly Infested Grocer

In Braybrook Shire Sunshine at least two men faced court for violations of the Health Act after a pest risk was found at T B Scott grocer Hamp shire Road. Inspector Frence Thorpe reported a stand with butter cheese and lollies uncovered near a dirty gutter. Fined £1 and costs £2 2s. Abusive language charge against John McCall dairyman

John McCall of Sunshine was charged at Sunshine Court with using abusive language in public. On 27 January he spoke hostilely to a man at Hampshire road, pushed him, and threatened more. He admitted the dispute and was fined £2 or 14 days in jail.

Doctor Byrne Recovering After Appendicitis Study

Dr Chas Byrne who has been at Mount St Evin Hospital was admitted for appendicitis. Good recovery expected and he will be back at hospital soon. Roy Miles Drummoyne N S W writes Reg Barclay that over the past few years he has won 67 greyhound races with five greyhounds sold to him by Barclay. He has won £93 in fake money. The names sent to Mr Miles were Minas Bashful Mina Little Mins Nigger Mac and Viola.

Maltese Man Fined Over Swine Feeding Offal Case

Maltese resident Paul Spitari of Furlong's Road Sunshine faced a Sunshine Court charge under Health Act Section 76 for permitting pigs access to offal not cleansed and boiled. Health inspector Laurence Thorpe testified on January 12 at Spitari atranoon premises where three animal carcases were found by a dam, pigs feeding and other pigs roaming. Witness Lindsay Russell, an employee, described cows dying from a poisonous weed and postmortem feeding of carcases to pigs. The interpreter noted Spitari's language barrier and ignorance of regulations. a vet blamed cow deaths on poison, not pig feeding. Spitari previously fined £5 last August for a dirty dairy. he sought £2 with 12/4 costs. The council praised Thorpe’s health work. further cases await. The Braybrook Shire Council will meet Monday night.

Former Stationmaster Retires After Years at Sunshine

John C. Gibson, long in charge of the Sunshine railway station, retires today after a career spanning principal Victoria stations. He survived a serious shooting accident near Castlemaine, returned to duty at Fern Tree Gully, and plans an interstate holiday with Mrs Gibson before settling in Sunshine.
