Sunshine Gymkhana Club seeks permit for cycling events

The Sunshine Gymkhana Club applied to the Victorian Amateur Cycling Union for permission to stage cycling events at the annual sports meeting on Saturday March 24 at Selwyn Park. Secretary P. J. White said it was almost certain the senior five mile amateur championship of Vittoria would be decided at Selwyn Park or on the local sports dates.

Selwyn Park Committee awards Sunshine FC use of park

The Selwyn Park Management Committee met under Dr. A Lowe in his absence. Sunshine Football Club was granted use of Selwyn Park for the coming season for a fee of £6 5. Improvements to the cycling track were discussed and further regrading of the Ship Engineer H Rehson was deferred.

Gisborne Shire Faces Stable Unemployment in 2000-strong District

In contrast to Braybrook where about 200 people are unemployed, Gisborne shire reports no requests for relief work. Consulting engineer W J Andrew C E of Sunshine notes no staff dismissals or extra hires. The shire, with over 2000 residents including the Aceton district, remains free from unemployment anxiety.

Sunshine Residents Sail To Join World Tour Party

Sunshine residents bid farewell to Cecil McKay president of the ictorian Aero Club and wife as they depart Melbourne aboard the Ormonde toward Co bo to join the Em of Britain on a world tour. Also aboard are Mr and Mrs BR Seymour en route to London where the Ladies Guild had given Mrs Seymour a belated bon voyage present.

Sunshine pool thrives as learn to swim ends and carnival nears

With heat returning the Sunshine pool remains popular. Learn to swim certificates were awarded to many including Mrs. White and Roy Nicholls. The Sunshine club carnival on February 24 will feature the Victorian 440 yards championship amid high hopes and guest Frances Bult. A working bee will ready the pool and Roy Madison won a 200 yards handicap at Essendon Baths. Sunshine teams prepare for two miles at Fairfield while Braybrook Council resumes after vacation with 60 agenda items and medical officer absence noted.

Promotion at Massey Harris as Production Engineer

Braybrook School Committee Thank Local Donors

The Braybrook school committee thanks Mrs Gee McKay Mr Gunn and Mr Repert for donations to the December Xmas treat. Receipts and donations totaled £17, £13 3 6 was spent on refreshments and gifts, leaving a balance of £1 16 6.

Price of Gas to be Considered by Braybrook Shire Council

A Braybrook Shire Council meeting discussed gas pricing with Advocate representative. Mr. R. G. Parsons of the Colonial Gas Association said earnest consideration is underway and a definite announcement will be made next month. Sunshine gas comes from Footscray works. some mains traverse revenueless streets, affecting price comparisons. The upcoming announcement aims to reassure consumers.

Baptist Church Women and Youth Activities Next Sunday

The Women's Christian Fellowship Union will conduct evening services with Mrs. P. Steel as speaker and Mrs. H. Blakey as soloist at the Baptist church. A young men's physical culture class is planned with a preliminary meeting Wednesday. Ages: seniors 15 plus, juniors 4 to 14. All are invited.

Hinkler Memorial Backed by Braybrook Shire Council

At Dr Raymond Robinson's urging Braybrook Shire Council voted £2 2 toward a memorial fund for Bert Hinkler. Dr Pennell questioned legality but hailed Hinkler as Australia’s greatest aviator and urged raising to £5. Robinson offered to refund if funds were not in order. He suggested nationwide £2 2 donations could fund a fitting monument.

Obituary for Mrs. Ern Naylor in Footscray

Ern Naylor of Sydney street Sunshine mourns the loss of his wife aged 73 who died at her daughter’s home in Footscray after thirty years in the area. She came from Warrnamboo and left a husband who died nine months ago. Survived by two sons Ernest and Charlen and two daughters Violet and Mamie. One daughter married to Peter Buckingham and the other to C Buckingham. husbands unconnected. Funeral at Footscray Cemetery tomorrow.
