Shire secretary Mr Edgar Hargreaves announced that Braybrook and Keilor Councils will implement the sustenance scheme next week. Sunshine applicants are asked to call at the Shire Hall between 10 and 2 on Wednesday for interviews, while tradespeople supplying goods may attend at 8 pm Tuesday at the Shire Office to learn details.
A reader disputes Councillor Pridham's claim of inside information on the economy and calls for factual evidence. The letter questions rock bottom remarks, warns against speculative inflation or elections, and urges the council not to chase Pridham's rainbow. Also notes local cricket selection and Sunshine WSS.L.A. meeting with pensions protest and Soldiers' Assistance Fund talks.
Satisfaction is felt as the petition for severance moves toward finalisation. The majority of ratepayers support linking with a new shire, citing the Sunshine road and local revenue of about £1000 annually. Arthur Jerbert McBean of Tyler Street Sunshine was fined £10 for driving a motorcycle at speed dangerous to the public. He was recorded reaching 45 miles per hour in Victoria Street at Garlton Court.
After a secret Saturday meeting the Keilor council voted to oppose the petition to sever St. Albans from the shire and annex it to Braybrook. The decision is described as a matter of public importance.
