The Mayor Dr J W Castley and Mayoress extend season greetings to City of Sunshine residents and new Australiana. They note community strides this year and welcome newcomers to share Christmas in their homes. wishes for speedy recovery and a period of goodwill to all.
The Brooklyn Ratepayers Association accuses Sunshine Council of not meeting eight deputation requests for area improvements. Dr Parsons cites loan money limits while the city engineer notes thousands spent and rejects costly temporary relief. Plans for unmade streets are being prepared for council submission. Dr Green urges urgent action and a report on remaining requests.
Sunshine Council on Monday endorsed an £80,000 street scheme for Glengarn Road area with extensive underground drainage. City engineer H Robinson reported the total cost just over £80, and the council also adopted a street construction plan for Recreation Estate St Albans and will invite tenders.
Officers of two local scout groups seek land for scout halls and have been invited to confer with Sunshine Council in the New Year to pursue a suitable site and funding.

Sunshine Technical School has been raised in status in Victoria's list of technical schools. Principal Mr J V Shelton receives promotion to align with the school's new standing. Departures include Miss Chisholm retiring ill health, Mr Iverson promoted to Swinburne, Miss Ferguson marriage, Mr Roberts promoted to Williamstown, and Mr Boyd transferred to Moorabbin.
The Country Roads Board notified Sunshine Council on Monday of its plan to widen Ballarat Road from Albion railway gates into a six lane highway. The Board also directed that future footpaths and services be planned with this proposal in mind and referred the matter to the city engineer for report.

A scathing council report by acting Medical Officer Dr. B J Feery highlights overcrowded unregistered lodging houses housing many New Australians with few facilities. Dr. Dobson, Sunshine Council, said a settlement was reached after residents complained about a contractor on Omar Street. Mr. Pentreath agreed to slower driving and reducing dust, with promises to patch the street and improve drainage. The council will involve the city engineer to remove earth heaps. Residents stressed no personal ill will toward the contractor.
Conference representatives of Kellor and Sunshine Councils propose Errington Reserve St Albans be jointly owned by the two councils. The reserve is now City of Sunshine property while most St Albans residents lie in Keilor Shire. Maintenance and capital costs to be shared. a control committee would include Keilor Maribyrnong riding and Sunshine Western Ward councillors. Sunshine Council has adopted the report awaiting Keilor ratification.
Superintendent of Parks Mr W J McLachlan said the machine would cut grass from three feet to half an inch high. It could be used on first class reserves or even nature strips.
Dr. N Ainsworth reported to Sunshine County that the St Albans Police Boys Club had strong attendance figures. The club, renamed from Toys Club, aims to boost youth engagement with 7 new admissions noted and plans for continued growth.
William Wales of Maidstone faced a negligent driving charge which was dismissed on Tuesday in Sunshine Court. He was fined £5 for failing to observe a traffic signal after a sequence on Ballarat Road and Rosamond Road. Costs of £4 3/8 were allowed.
Latest donations to the McLean Appeal total £1,118 12s 9d from multiple supporters. Contributors include Crittall Mafg Co Pty Ltd £5 5s, Sunshine Methodist Church £33 2s, Albion Methodist Church £13 13s, Sunshine Station per Mr Higginson £20 10s, Sun shine Park Management 7s 1 6d, and many others including street collections and raffle proceeds.
Sunshine Council secured two prosecutions against Alfred Sealle Berriman 43 Melee Road at the Maribyrnong local court on Tuesday. He faced charges of selling minced steak and rissole steak containing sulphur dioxide as a preservative. He was fined £5 with £3 13s costs in each case.
