In our final 1933 issue we express gratitude for support over the year and wish prosperity and happiness to all Braybrook residents. The Advocate masthead will appear again on January 4.
A reflective Christmas piece recalls the old Harlequinade and contrasts simple pantomime with modern tastes. It celebrates the season’s enduring goodwill, family joy, and the habit of saying Here we are again as the year turns.
The Presbyterian Guild presented Mrs A B Milne, longtime secretary, a gold mounted fountain pen and an Eversharp pencil to show appreciation. A recent fair yielded a profit of £125.
Sunshine horticultural meeting attended by acting chair Bennett and lecturer Mr. Jackson. He discussed soil as key to successful vegetable culture, drainage, manuring, and trenching with old tins. He advised on composting, manure types, lime use, celery planting, and careful transplanting, ending with questions and a flower and vegetable show result.
Owing to rain the concert organized by Dr. W. J. Pridham Shire President in aid of Christmas cheer for unemployed children has been postponed until next Thursday. Go and be charitable.
The Sunshine Technical School held a two day student exhibition on December 13–14 with gatherings in the quad and tours of arranged rooms. Principal Ferguson and technical education chief inspector FE P Eltham spoke on school work and local support, noting firm incentives from H. V. McKay to non apprentices who achieve 75 percent or higher. Prizes were awarded to top students across multiple forms and trades, with donations acknowledged from several firms and individuals.
The Footscray Football Club votes on Tuesday at the Royal Hall Barkly Street Footscray from 3 to 9 pm amid keen contest. Members in Sunshine and others needing transport may contact Fred White Reg Darclay or Reg Hands or leave names to arrange a car.
