Anniversary services at Deer Park with prize giving

Parents and friends are invited to Deer Park anniversary services on Sunday December 10. Special singing and prize giving occur at 11 am St Albans 3 15 pm St Albans and 7 15 pm Deer Park with a talk by Rev P W Robinson. Sunday schools combine for afternoon service. Transport from Deer Park church at 2 45 to St Albans. Choir of 60 children. Deer Park Mothers Club meets Wednesday December 13 at 2 80 pm in Deer Park Hall.

Hampers For The Troops Aid Needed For Christmas

Work to pack 2,500 hampers at Melbourne Town Hall must finish by December 17 with donations due by December 14 at the Advocate office. About 14,500 Victorians on active service require hampers costing 6 each. funds go to Mrs G Baker Sunshine Branch Australian Comforts Fund for dispatch. Court fines for truck overweight and tare paint failure

Alexander Murray of Kerang was fined £2 plus costs for driving a truck with a load exceeding six tons on St Albans Road. R Carson of Brunswick was fined 20 shillings with costs for failing to clearly display tare on his truck. The case against P A Clift of Essendon was dismissed after he denied the informant's evidence.

Concert and Operetta by Miss Elsa Haas Students

Students of Miss Elsa Haas present a concert and operetta to aid the Sunshine Branch of the Australian Comforts Fund on Thursday December 14. The program includes vocal and pianoforte items and the operetta The Land of Fans and Lanterns with music by Elsa Haas and lyrics by Haas, promising a musically attractive program and spectacle. Shire President Dr Lowe plans to attend.
