Cultivation of Creek Land Advocated
Letter from H Beachley Sunshine urges public support for a self supporting mixed farming plan by Professor L G Giblin to relieve unemployment. He cites unused land along the Maribyrnong River and Kororoit Creek between a swimming pool and sewer pumping station as able to support nine families, with blocks worked by the unemployed under single room housing conditions until crops prove profitable. He notes tomatoes as a viable crop for Sunshine and calls on public officials to adopt the proposal to boost morale and provide quicker returns than wheat or wool.
