The council voices strong protest against a Housing Commission plan to erect 1000 pre fabricated homes in a model suburb. Dr Barclay and Dr Parsons condemn overseas dog boxes and urge injunctions if needed. Dr Dobson cites policy shifts and insists the commission honor its agreement.
Bruce Robinson aged 24 son of Braybrook Shire Engineer H. E. Robinson departed today aboard the Orion bound for England. An architect, he plans several years of study in England and on the Continent with two other young architects after completing education at Sunshine State School and Melbourne University.
The mass X ray survey plan is delayed as the Public Health Department cannot yet make definite arrangements. Dr. K F Brennan the Shire Medical Officer seeks an earlier campaign after the highly successful prior effort two years ago.

Heavy rains cause Kororoit and Stoney Creek floods isolating residents. Armstrong Street Bridge submerged cutting access. a milkman crosses then is marooned. Railings washed away as water nears swimming pool sheds and backs up yards. Officials urge a high level bridge at Glen gala Road to handle future floods.
At Sunshine Court on Friday before Messrs Barclay Carlton and Jolly J. Francis George Condrick, a slaughter man of Newport, faced charges of stealing seven windows and frames between November 25 and 27, 1948, belonging to G W Pennell of Braybrook. He pleaded not guilty. Paul Kennedy defended him. A witness identified the windows as Pennell property. Condrick claimed he bought them for 30 pounds from a man met at the Bridge Hotel, Maribyrnong, with no receipt and could not recall the seller’s name. The bench indicated potential conviction. Condrick said he was building his own home, with three children and a ill wife. He had prior incidents at Williamstown Court, later dismissed. The chairman noted the accused had previously been known as a good citizen.
Sunshine Methodist Church bids farewell to Rev H A Small after five years of service. A packed social presented gifts to Mr and Mrs Small and John Small including a canteen set and a camera. Local ministers and church groups praised their cooperation and spiritual work in the community.
Victorian Railways Commissioners refuse to extend to St Albans trains that end at Sunshine citing industrial unrest. Sunshine West ALP MP Dr A E Shepherd urged immediate personnel to restore transport options for Albion residents affected by the strike. He argued trains idling at Sunshine waste time when trips to St Albans and back could fit the timetable.
The Sunshine Theatre will become the first suburban venue to install the English Gaumont Kalee sound system. The upgrade promises patrons enhanced realism and clearer dialogue for contemporary sound film productions.
Former Sunshine resident and longtime H. V. McKay Massey Harris Ply. Ltd. employee John Ayron Beynon died at Rosebud on Tuesday evening aged 61. Survived by widow, three daughters Addie Thompson Gwen Langdon Lyra Reid and two sons Ossie J. D. and Frank, plus ten grandchildren. Funeral held today at Footscray Cemetery with Walter A Werne as director.
A carnival held across Sunshine Hospital district and Sunshine Cricket Club raised funds. The hospital recorded 185/9/2 and other entries showed 3/7 prizes. Cheques were handed at the four carnival committee meeting last night. Volunteers were praised by representatives from the host associations.
