Mr W L S Clapperton, aged 66 and former headmaster at Balmoral Hamilton Sandford Merebin and Warragul, died after months of illness. Funeral at Footscray cemetery conducted by Rev W Evans. Survived by widow and three children. Nelson Bros. arranged the service. coffin bearers included his sons and brothers. Wreaths came from scholars, Victorian Taxation Dept staff, school staff, and local clubs.

The ladies auxiliary of the Sunshine Branch of the ASSILLA celebrated its tenth anniversary on March 28 with a sumptuous supper. Party caps, whistles, and a gift of posies for each member followed, then music and community singing. The cake was cut by central president Mrs Clark, with Mrs Mulcay present. The Sunshine Kennel Club stages its sixth championship at the Royal Show Grounds in Flemington on Easter Monday April 10. About 250 dogs entered. show runs from 9 96 to 5. Mr R K McKenaile serves as secretary. Sunsh ine Technical School girls donate £1 1s 6d to the bush fire fund.
Robert George Albert Marsh, 18, of Ringwood, appeared at Northcote court on Wednesday charged with setting fire to St. Anthony's Fairfield and Our Lady's Sunshine churches. Witnesses described fires on March 17 and 27. Marsh reportedly admitted setting both blazes with matches.
A Braybrook Council meeting heard a solicitor's request to create a plumpton for greyhound coursing on 26 acres between Tottenham Station and White City. The letter remains on file for two weeks while inspectors study possible impacts on local development and housing near the site.
