WVU student doubles output of IBM 7040 computer
Addison Fischer at West Virginia University developed a system that redirects data flow to a disk and speeds the IBM 7040 at the WVU Computer Center. His program increases compute time usage to about 90 percent, reducing idle periods and delaying new computer purchases for at least a year.
