A wild goose nicknamed Sammy has settled at Maxwell Lock and Dam on the Monongahela River near Brownsville Pennsylvania. Public relations officer Helen Kymmes notes the lone goose visits each morning, responds to a horn call, and braves the river for corn breakfasts.

Women fight strip mining blast near their homes in St Clair
Mrs. Alice Siminitus and two neighbors in St Clair Schuylkill County fought a nearby strip mining operation after blasts cracked foundations moved furniture and caused dust. They rallied 60 residents, pressed officials, and won a 30 day suspension in 1970. They fear future accidents as blasting continues.

18 Year-Old Alcohol Sale Drive In State Legislature
Harrisburg reports an all out effort to pass a bill allowing 18 year olds to buy alcohol during the current session. Dr. O Bruce Poulson heads the Christian Concern Committee forecasting strong support in Philadelphia and neighboring counties. He spoke at a Federated Legislative Committee gathering.
