Ford cuts price hike request for 1973 models
Ford Motor Co followed GM in dropping 33 from its requested increase for 1973 model cars and trucks. The company argues Nixon administration policy burdens auto firms with inflation controls. The action lowers the average hike from 92 to 59 per car as government moves push 1973 models to 1972 prices. A Sept 12 price hearing is set with testimony through Sept 30, delaying any increases until October. New introductions fall between Sept 12 and Sept 26.
