Gypsy moth control efforts criticized by state entomologist
New Jersey Agriculture Department entomologist John Kegg said the latest sex attractant approach to kill gypsy moths is not encouraging. He noted that incomplete studies show the method isn’t killing enough moths as over 100,000 acres across eight counties are infested, with potential defoliation exceeding 130,000 acres from 1970. Similar trials are under way in eastern Pennsylvania led by Penn State personnel.
