World War II ace Fred Dungan dies at 96
Fred Dungan, Navy Hellcat pilot famed for a near fatal July 4 1944 mission over a Pacific island, died January 2 in San Clemente at age 96. A decorated WWII flying ace and night-flying pioneer, his survival that day became a legendary second birthday.

San Clemente Eyes Expanded Free Trolley Service This Summer
City Manager James Makshanoff sought OCTA support to grow San Clemente trolley service after a successful inaugural season funded by a 1.3 million six year grant. The program requires minimum ridership of 10 boardings per hour to continue. Dana Point operates three trolleys on a 15 minute loop linking Pier downtown El Camino Real North Beach and The Outlets.
