City opens new Beach Access stairway in San Clemente
San Clemente restored access to the bluff and beach at 204 with a $1.27 million El Portal Beach Access route. The new 75 foot stairway features wider solid steps, a mellower climb, and a decomposed granite path. It intersects the beach trail and crossings over railroad tracks onto the sand. A memorial to a local youth is preserved at the bluff edge.
