Retiring House Republican cites age politics and Trump
Rep. Paul Cook, 76, after 26 years in the Marines and two Purple Hearts, will not seek reelection. He says GOP losses, toxic Washington, and Trump highs drive retirement as moderates feel squeezed by the Freedom Caucus and party polarization. Other exiting Republicans face tough races or term limits on leadership roles.
