Richard Carl James died September 12 2019 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont Greenwood South Carolina. He was born October 6 1915 in Pittsburgh grew up in East Brady attended Carnegie Institute of Technology. He flew for the Royal Canadian Air Force and RAF during World War II, married Kathleen Bennett in 1941, served 27 years in the U S Navy retiring as a Commander in 1969. Survived by daughter Anne Landis two grandchildren and three great grandchildren and brother Howard. Memorial service October 6 2019 at the Seabrook of Hilton Head with a reception to follow donation urged to The Seabrook Foundation.
Elizabeth Anne Dixon McMillan known as Liz died September 16 2019 at Homeplace of New Bern NC after vascular dementia Born December 10 1933 in Reedsville WV she lived in Raleigh before moving to Cove City She married Roscoe Drake McMillan Jr in 1970 and they remained married 38 years Liz was a UNC Chapel Hill graduate and former WRAL TV staffer active in Raleigh clubs churches and charitable reading for the blind and knitting chemo caps Survivors include siblings nephews nieces stepson and stepdaughter with services set at Core Creek Free Will Baptist Church and Raleigh Memorial Park In lieu of flowers donations may go to Breast Cancer Research Foundation or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Arrangements by Cotten Funeral Home.
