Union Colored Troops Fought at Olustee and Siege Actions
The 54th Massachusetts and 35th US Colored Troops saw action in 1863 near Little Washington and Rawle's Mill, with casualties at White Hall. The 35th, formed in New Bern by William Henry Singleton, recruited over 1000 escaped slaves and later fought at Olustee in Florida, suffering heavy losses.

Three residents charged in drug related animal abuser case
Hughes said he has had animal abuse calls leading to arrests on drug charges.
