Craven County sewer hearing at Grover C Middle School
Hundreds of supporters and opponents attend a public hearing at Grover C Middle School auditorium to decide if the state will approve raising the Craven County plant’s discharge from 75 000 to 150 000 gallons per day. The move would enable new customers to join the Neuse River Water and Sewer District system which is under a 1993 moratorium and currently uses spray irrigation on Arthur Farms near Craven Regional Airport. Officials say expanding onto private land would cost customers more.

Dover moves toward finalizing 1994 95 budget amid audits
Dover officials, four months into the fiscal year, plan a 1994 95 budget after addressing years of audit delays. Mayor pro tem Forrestine Riggs says the board has mainly cleaned up while auditor George Hancock works with the state on missing records and bank statements. The town fired former accountant Clifton West for failing to obtain state audit approvals, leading to potential funding loss and a license penalty for West. Hancock reports critical bank statements remain missing but asserts no money is missing, as Dover prepares to implement a new computer system to improve bookkeeping.
