George T Willis Jr 91 lifelong New Bern resident dies

George Thomas Willis Jr 91 a New Bern native and WWII veteran died at home on Sunday October 16 2011 60th anniversary of his marriage to Celia Hall Willis. He served at Utah Beach in Normandy fought in Belgium and Germany earned bronze battle stars and retired as a sergeant. He is survived by daughters Elizabeth Burton Diane Ellington Alma Alexander and their spouses and several grandchildren. A graveside service will be held October 21 at New Bern Memorial Cemetery with hospice thanks and donations to Alzheimer's NC.

Windy Weather Persists Across Florida to East Coast

A low pressure system moving from the Gulf into the East Coast brings ongoing rain today with a 60 percent chance of showers and isolated storms during the day and a 50 percent chance overnight.
