Confederate statue removed in Lexington after court ruling

Overnight removal of the Confederate statue in uptown Lexington ends months of protest and counter protests. The statue’s owners the Robert E Lee Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy signed an agreement with Lexington to relocate it outside city limits and the city will store it temporarily before a permanent site is chosen. Davidson County had sought to block removal but a superior court judge dissolved the restraining order, allowing temporary storage and relocation under agreement.
