Advertising firm loses challenge to Durham billboard ban
The Supreme Court refused to hear Naegele’s Outdoor Advertising challenge to Durham North Carolina’s 1984 ban on most commercial billboards. The ruling upheld a decision that allowed non commercial signs and delayed enforcement to protect investment. The case involved about 65 of 109 billboards and raised free speech and Takings Clause questions.
