Carolina Classic golf tourney grows from town origins to major Marine fund
A local Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation event grew from a town golf outing to a two venue regional tournament at Cherry Point and Camp Lejeune. Co founder Rob erts and organizer Powell credit volunteers and leaders from the Greater New Bern Chamber of Commerce with turning the effort into a year round fundraiser now hosting 240 golfers with 1000 per team. The foundation awards 10 000 scholarships to children of Marines and helps families of those killed in action.
