Happy to be me Aimee Stephens fights high court case
Transgender woman Aimee Stephens, working at R G and G R Harris Funeral Homes in Garden City, Michigan, says she is happy being herself while facing potential loss in a Supreme Court case on whether sex discrimination protections cover transgender people. Her health, including dialysis thrice weekly, adds urgency as the court hearings on October 8 approach. The case centers on whether Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act protects LGBT employees, a question with broader implications for gender identity and sexual orientation rights nationwide.
