Public transit gets a lift in voters backs for funding
Voters in California to Virginia approved more than a dozen measures to raise taxes or issue bonds for mass transit upkeep expansion and new systems despite sharply reduced ridership during the COVID 19 era. Caltrain in the Bay Area won Measure RR a sales tax boost to restore service and fund electrification with ongoing fare support while Austin Texas voters backed Proposition A a property tax hike to finance a 7.1 billion rail and transit expansion.
