Craven County board meets to discuss sheriff pay
Craven County Commissioners hold a special session at 4 p.m. in the county administration building to decide pay for Sheriff Jerry Monette who took office Nov. 15 and to relocate the Dec. 5 meeting where the new board will be sworn in. If approved, Monette earns about 41 000 to 42 000 yearly and a roughly $500 extra for the two weeks. The Dec. 5 meeting site change reflects a larger anticipated audience for the swearing in and former members’ departure.
