Bloomin Brands kept staff on as dine-in fell in pandemic
Bloomin Brands avoided furloughs for its 93,000 workers and expanded delivery and carryout. The company, owner of Outback, Carrabba's, Bonefish, and Fleming's, launched Tender Shack and reported 39 percent carryout and delivery, up from 20 percent. Deno expects outdoor dining and strong carryout to sustain demand as restaurants reopen. The AP interview notes U.S. full-service dining fell about 25 percent industrywide in the July-September period.
