A funeral service is set for November 9 at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center with interment at New Bern National Cemetery later. She worked for the Havelock Police Department from 2000 to 2016 and served as organist at Ambassador for Christ Church. In Craven County, voters chose Pete Van Vliet and Danny Walsh to keep their Havelock seats with Josh Kohr winning a challenge. Bridgeton saw Edwin Hege and Peggie Wilson win commissioner seats, Cove City elected mayor Dred Mitchell Jr, and Vanceboro chose Chad Braxton as mayor. Turnout was about 9 percent with 1,755 of 19,359 ballots cast.
