Wreck costs Jones chance at race in Charlotte Indy bid
Davy Jones wrecked his Ford Thunderbird in a late Thursday practice at Charlotte Motor Speedway, ending his Indy 500 Coca-Cola 600 double bid. He qualified 46th in Coca-Cola 600 and will not start the 400 lap NASCAR event. Jones, 30, vows to improve as he recovers, while Dale Earnhardt and Mark Martin face rough qualifying days. Darrell Waltrip deals with rib muscle tear and might use a relief driver for Sundays race.
