SBI probes suspicious fire damages two apartments in Green Park Court
State Bureau of Investigation joined Craven County Fire Marshal and New Bern Fire Prevention in examining a suspicious fire at a vacant Green Park Court duplex Thursday afternoon. No suspect named. Firefighters controlled the blaze in about 20 minutes with roof damage and heavy smoke and water damage to contents.

Extradition hearing set for May 18 kidnapping case
An extradition hearing is planned for May 18 for Melton a 38 year old man from Mobile County. Police searched Melton's home area Thursday morning but found no trace. Melton disappeared after a hotel security guard last saw her in Selma. Ross her boyfriend was arrested in Knoxville two days after the disappearance and police found a bloody cloth and blood spots at Melton's home.

Bar Fight Leaves Man Hospitalized After Stabbing Incident
