Expo at Maola site hosts home and sports show

The ENC New Bern Home Outdoor Living Expo plus RV Auto and Sports Show runs Saturday and Sunday at the Maola Riverfront site in New Bern. Admission is free, 9 am–4 pm Saturday and 10 am–4 pm Sunday, with 80 plus exhibitors. Food vendors include Smokin Joe’s BBQ and Flounder’s Seafood. A pet adoption event by Colonial Capital Humane Society is also planned.

Aldermen to consider grants and gas line deal

The New Bern Board of Aldermen will evaluate Rural Housing Recovery Infrastructure and Highway Safety grant applications and review a plan to bring natural gas lines to the Volt Center. A $350,000 no match grant would cover Tate Commons wastewater project costs. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

New Bern CROP Hunger Walk Draws 230 Participants

About 230 people joined the New Bern CROP Hunger Walk at Union Point Park on Sunday afternoon March 10. Walkers completed either a 1 mile or 3 mile route through downtown, continuing a 39 year local tradition. The event traces back to 1946 with Church World Service forming after WWII and later creating the Christian Rural Overseas Program.
