DoD Moves Streamline Finance Annex at Cherry Point
The Defense Accounting Office at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station will close by next winter as DoD reorganizes its finance and accounting operations. About 59 base jobs will be eliminated with the consolidation shrinking field offices from about 300 to 26 locations. The move, part of a multi year DoD reorganization, aims to place workers in new sites or within their communities through priority programs and inter agency placements. The effort is not tied to the 1995 Base Closure and Realignment Commission recommendations.
