The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and the USS San Jacinto continued their no-port deployment in the North Arabian Sea, setting a new Navy record of 161 consecutive days at sea. Commanders Higgins and Crossman cited safety amid COVID-19 as the driver, with no land visits since January while crews improvise repairs and keep operations 100 percent.

NASA to name HQ after Hidden Figure Mary W Jackson

NASA will rename the Washington DC headquarters in honor of Mary W Jackson, the agency’s first Black woman engineer. Jackson joined NACA in 1951, worked at Langley, published research on boundary layers, retired in 1985, and died in 2005. Her legacy was boosted by the 2016 film Hidden Figures and Obama’s Medal of Freedom. The naming follows wider debates on renaming buildings tied to segregationist figures.
