Oxford led study finds steroid lowers COVID-19 deaths
Researchers in England report the first evidence that a cheap steroid, dexamethasone, reduces deaths in severely ill COVID-19 patients. In a large trial of 2,104 treated and 4,321 controls, outcomes improved by 35 percent for those on ventilators and 20 percent for those needing supplemental oxygen, with one death prevented per eight ventilated patients and per 25 oxygen only patients.
