Newport escapees captured and sent to Wayne County
Two felons who escaped Newport Prison were captured Friday night in western North Carolina. Ricky Rice and Singletary were found in a broken down car in Watauga County after scaling a 12 foot fence at Carteret County facility. Singletary had two ten year robbery sentences, Rice ten years for breaking and entering. They were located near the home of a woman they had dated in Southmont. They face felony escape charges. Brenda and Rose Carole Seamon were charged with aiding the escapees. They will be returned to prison Saturday to a medium security facility in Wayne County.
