River Bend Municipal Building construction accelerates toward July opening
COVID-19 update says Town Hall remains closed to the public except by appointment for essential services such as water, sewer, public works and police. Construction on the new River Bend Municipal Building proceeds ahead of schedule, with completion expected in mid June and open use in July. A dedication is tentatively planned for July 16. Renovations to Town Hall will begin soon and follow COVID-19 protocols, canceling functions during construction.

Red Caboose Library Faces Pause Opens Tween Plan
The Red Caboose Library paused by governor order in March 2020 but stayed active with community efforts. Volunteers from River Bend Garden Club produced and distributed over 600 face masks on April 8 15 and 18, and 135 masks were donated to Riverstone Assisted Living Center on April 29. A detailed inventory binder of all books and media was created, and a Tween section is being developed with a bookcase built by Chris Organ and donor books. The library plans to reopen with these additions.

Garden Club Keeps Connected Through Distanced Meetings
River Bend Garden Club members pursue beautification friendship and education while following social distancing. In late April outgoing president Fran Rice met with incoming Linda Wilkes outside at the Memorial Garden gazebo in town hall. They reviewed plants budget and planned maintenance for 2020-21.

River Bend Public Works clears trees and paints hydrants
Public Works removed trees from the roadway after a mid April thunderstorm and pushed debris aside to maintain traffic flow. Aquatic herbicide is applied at town ponds to control growth while recognizing benefits to nutrient reduction. Fire hydrants on Plantation Dr and side streets are repainted for visibility. Public Works also paints and maintains wastewater facility railings.
