Charlotte protests spike over police custody death in Minneapolis
Demonstrators protested in uptown Charlotte for a second night blocking traffic on 1 277 uptown. Police arrested at least 13 on charges from illegal gun possession to assaulting an official as crowds clashed with officers in riot gear. A flag was hung upside down at the Federal Reserve building and a transit center briefly closed. One officer was injured and firefighters rescued a man who fell through a grate. The city declared a state of emergency. no curfew, but staging resources from the state were authorized.
