Elks Lodge No 764 of New Bern hosts the annual Flag Day public event on June 8 at 11 a.m. at Union Point Park gazebo by the Neuse River. The Marine Aircraft Wing Band from Cherry Point will perform, enhancing the program honoring the national emblem.

New Bern Declares City Burn Ban and Permits Canceled
New Bern Fire Rescue has issued a city and ETJ burn ban due to high fire risk. No open burning or new permits are allowed until further notice, effective from Friday noon. The ban covers Rocky Run, Sandy Point, Briarwood, and is intended to protect lives and property. North Carolina Forest Service also bans open burning and cancels permits across 17 Eastern Carolina counties.
