Earnhardt exits early as Unser wins ninth IROC crown
At Michigan International Speedway Dale Earnhardt, hurt by a blown tire and debris, watched Al Unser Jr. claim a record ninth IROC victory. Mark Martin faltered to fifth, losing the title by four points as Kendall challenged Unser late. Unser praised Earnhardt’s driving while Kendall led laps before settling for runner up. The race marked the final IROC for the Avengers era ahead of a 1996 Pontiac Firebird change.
