Two C 130 aircraft from Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station are staged in Mombasa Kenya to deliver relief supplies to Rwandan refugees. Capt Scott Kisch of the Joint Public Affairs Office says they are not flying for the amphibious group and may extend their Kenya mission for an undetermined period. The planes and four rotating crews from VMGR 252 had been supporting an amphibious ready group off Africa's coast and are expected to return to Cherry Point Tuesday if not extended.

Vanceboro wreck victim moves back to critical list
A Vanceboro woman injured in a Saturday crash was upgraded to serious, then returned to critical today at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. Betrina Yvonne Jenkins, 20, was in a life threatening crash and airlifted after her car, driven by Michelle Singleton, swerved off the road and was struck by another vehicle. Singleton and 1-year-old passenger Brittany Renee Singleton were only slightly hurt. the other driver, Robert Harold Woolard, 65, was uninjured. All occupants wore seat belts.

Onslow County man accused of camp abuse at Fort Barnwell
David Robert Short, 47, of Hubert, was arrested on Wednesday on four counts of sexually abusing minors at the Fort Barnwell Woodmen of the World camp. The alleged abuse occurred between July 18 and Friday. Short posted a $5,000 unsecured bond. Trial set for Oct. 21 in Craven County Superior Court. Names of the minors withheld.
