New Bern plans 84 unit affordable apartments off Carolina Ave
The New Bern Housing Authority will start an $13 million project this summer at 801 Carolina Avenue southwest of downtown. Mosaic Development Group and Better Vision Housing Corp partner to build Carolina Avenue Apartments for residents earning up to 60 percent of area median income. Units include energy efficient kitchens, laundry connections, and private balconies across 18 one bedroom, 48 two bedroom, and 18 three bedroom layouts with rents ranging from 283 to 770 dollars monthly.

Last Call COVID-19 hits several New Bern bars and clubs
Four New Bern bars and clubs remain affected by COVID-19 closures. The Brown Pelican and Bear Town Market stay shut as bars without kitchens, The Garage limits on premises service, and Tap That Craft Beer & Wine Bar plans a July 17 reopen after a temporary shutdown for a positive case. Onslow and Carteret report extra COVID-19 deaths
Onslow County reported a sixth COVID-19 death this week with 65 new positive cases and a total of 554 cases. Carteret County confirmed another resident death in their 70s with an underlying condition, the fifth fatality since July, per the county health department.
