Aluminum Can Ban Drives Craven County Recycling Push
The North Carolina 1993 Senate Bill 59 bans aluminum cans from landfill disposal effective July 1. Craven County encourages curbside recycling, notes 240 tons recycled since 1991, and promotes selling cans to Raymond Goldman and Co. Inc. for 0.30 per pound, with an extra penny per pound for over 100 pounds. The state names a Recycling and Reuse Business Assistance Center to boost market development and jobs.
